Written By You
Every month Equestrian Network Magazine features a short story written by one of our readers. It can be a story about an adventure you had with your horse, a fictional short story, or poetry. If you have a submission send it to info@equestmagazine.com and write "Something New" in the subject line. This month, Marion Merrill sent us a poem.

A Friend

by Marion Merrill

There is a silhouette on the horizon
His long neck is arched
His tail is high
His ears are tipped forward
I hear him call for me
He greets me
He knows I am here
He is a friend
A companion
My Champion
My childhood dream
We have been together along time
He nuzzles my hand
And kisses my face
He knows my moods
As I know his
He taught me everything I know
Everything I know I owe to him
He is a friend
He is gone
In my mind and heart
Will always stay
The rain will remind me of him
For it was his favorite time to play

Dedicated to Alpine Mercedes
~The great champion in my life~

A picture of him and me in our prime having fun.
