Equine Words You May Not Know |

In this month's article she describes the word "citidiot." |
| |
Citidiot - Someone from an urban area who moves to a rural area. They come in masses, seemingly overnight and ruin small town life.

"Them damn citidiots are buyin' up the best deer huntin' spots and buildin' their fancy summer homes." |
| |
I later found out there is an entire dictionary for terms such as this, called "Urban Dictionary." But after reading it, I realized I knew a few equine terms that weren't in the dictionary. Here are a few of my equine terms. Feel free to add some of your own in the comment section below.

Tardytrekker = someone who always arrives late to trail rides and keeps the whole group waiting.
|
| |
Equinfecalspector = a person who is willing to examine equine fecal matter.
|
| |
Hoofin-highfalutin' = a person having a feeling of superiority about their knowledge of equine subjects.
|
| |
Barefootologist = someone learning and practicing all things relating to horses going barefoot.
|
| |
Riding Shirtless = bareback riding.
|
| |
Bi-lingquine = rides English and western or rides horses and mules. |
| |
Meds for Keds = what will be needed by those who wear tennis shoes (especially Keds) when they ride.

| |
Equinhobo = horse trainer or rodeo cowboy without a girlfriend, which results in being homeless.
|
| |
Bronc-Magnet = horse person who owns a lot of horses that cannot or will not be ridden.
|
| |
Tackaholic = a person who collects enormous amounts of horse tack.
|
| |
Horseaholic = a person who collects enormous numbers of horses.
|
| |
Workaholic = spouse of a person who is a tackaholic and a horseaholic.
|
| |
Pensationalist = a person who really enjoys team penning.
|
| |
Buckadooo = a buck so hard it will knock your wig off.
|
| |
Equidini = A horse or mule that continually escapes from its stall. |
| |
Equiculinary Princess = The Rachel Ray of the equine world, able to mix supplements and grains into equine culinary masterpieces. |

Martha Barn-Stewart = A horse owner who keeps her barn cleaner than her home. |

Garry rode the length of California on horseback with a packhorse in 2003. The trip took 3 1/2 months and covered 1350 miles. Upon completion of this trip, Garry became a member of The Long Riders Guild. Now he is President of the Ohlone Riders Unit of the Backcountry Horsemen of California. He is a horse trainer and NARHA Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor. As a member of the Wilderness Rider Program, Garry is a trained and certified instructor and spokesperson for the U.S. Forest Service, National Parks Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Game Department and Backcountry Horsemen of California. He is an equestrian writer and has had over 100 articles published in 15 magazines. Garry is Chairman of the Board of The DreamPower Foundation, which provides equine therapy to children and adults with mental and emotional problems. In 2004, Garry retired from a 20 year career as an Executive in Silicon Valley. |
