Founded in 1926, Green Mountain Horse Association, GMHA, is located in the heart of Vermont's equestrian trail system and in one of the most picturesque communities in the country. Each summer approximately 10,000-12,000 people come to GMHA for competitions, trail rides, camps and clinics. It encompasses approximately 65 acres in South Woodstock, Vermont.  With permanent stabling for approximately 160 horses (additional temporary stalls available for select events allow 209 horses to stable on-grounds), 3 sand rings, numerous grass riding areas, driving hazards and a cross-country course that runs through Intermediate. Comment: While admittedly beautiful and equal to the title "Dream Farms", there is no way you can classify these properties as "affordable". Add in the outrageous property taxes in Vermont and it becomes even less "affordable".

Perhaps my next question should be...affordable for who? Certainly not any of the horse people I know. For them, "affordable" would not exceed $450,000.

Comment: For affordable horse properties check out Walla Walla, Washington, a farming and wine country area in sunny southeastern Washington. Prices can be about $10-$15,000 an acre. Some properties even have creek or river frontage with water rights.

Comment: Think these properties are Affordable??? Unfortunately, only for a lucky few. What are the property taxes in Vermont? I heard they are on the high side.

Comment: Price is under picture. I had to look a while, too. I was curious to see what is deemed 'affordable' these days.
